Overcoming Strongholds
Billy Epperhart explains that, “strongholds are castles we build in our minds brick by brick and wrong belief by wrong belief. They keep the truth from getting into our minds and hearts. Strongholds are formed and reinforced when we lean on human reasoning rather than Godly wisdom. They are anything we have come to rely on other than God…”
Since we began to abdicate our scriptural responsibilities 200 years ago, we can see why Restoring America’s Biblical Heritage will be quite a battle that will keep us busy for an entire generation! I believe that we will feel called to this duty and will find it invigorating and fulfilling. God’s Word promises us:
Joshua 1: 8-9 says “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
God promises us in Isaiah 54:13 NKJV “All your children shall be taught by the Lord, And great shall be the peace of your children.” We will be employing the Biblical commands that Jesus gave us in Mark 16 and Matthew 28 to “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.” and to “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you…”
How do we go from every Creature to all the nations? Could it be as simple as in Ephesians where the Lord instructs children to obey their “parents in the Lord: for this is right” and Fathers to bring up their children “in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.” (Ephesians 6:1-4 KJV)
Samuel Adams expressed the battle this way, “Let divines and philosophers, statesmen and patriots, unite their endeavors to renovate the age, by impressing the minds of men with the importance of educating their little boys and girls, of inculcating in the minds of youth the fear and love of the Deity and universal philanthropy, and, in subordination to these great principles, the love of their country; of instructing them in the art of self-government, without which they never can act a wise part in the government of societies, great or small; in short, of leading them in the study and practice of the exalted virtues of the Christian system and the art of self-government.(1)
Yes, Lord! We say Amen.
