Teaching His Story

Who is Sovereign in America?

Who is Sovereign in America?

“We have this day restored the Sovereign to Whom all men ought to be obedient. He reigns in heaven and from the rising to the setting of the sun, let His kingdom come.” ~Samuel Adams, July 2, 1776

“The right to freedom being the gift of God Almighty, it is not in the power of man to alienate this gift and voluntarily become a slave… These [rights] may be best understood by reading and carefully studying the institutes of the great Law Giver and Head of the Christian Church, which are to be found clearly written and promulgated in the New Testament.” ~ Samuel Adams, Natural Rights of the Colonists as Christians

Since we’re coming up on the midterm elections on Tuesday, November 3, from  7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m EST, I thought it would be helpful to pray for the candidates, that their policies align with Biblical values.

In Matthew 6:9-13, Jesus teaches us how to pray:

“Our Father in heaven,  Hallowed be Your name.” May God’s Name be hallowed by our VOTE.

“Your kingdom come.  Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” May we vote to enable God’s Kingdom to come, that His will would be done, on Earth, as it is in Heaven!

“For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.” Yes, Lord!!!

May the Church govern ourselves so that Your “precepts will serve for the government of our conduct.” (1)

Father,  “Let family government be like that of our heavenly Father, mild, gentle and affectionate.” (1)

Here is a GREAT website for Nehemiah Alliance: na52.org

“So the wall was finished on the twenty-fifth day of the month Elul, in fifty-two days.”  ~ Nehemiah 6:15

They are asking us to pray this prayer everyday until the elections:

“Our Father, we, Your people, humble ourselves, pray, seek Your face, repent, believing that You will hear from Heaven forgive and heal our land.

Cover every soul, every sphere and all in authority with Your banner of blessing and canopy of protection. Your kingdom come, Your will be done in our Nation as it is in Heaven.

May the Gospel be proclaimed, disciples made, and laborers sent into His Harvest.  May we have oil in our lamps, not be deceived, delivered from evil, and ready for your return. May the hearts of the fathers and children be turned to one another. May we be one as Jesus and the Father are one. May we be a shining city on a hill that brings You glory.

As Scripture urges, we pray for the peace and prosperity of our Nation. In Your great mercy, for Your name’s sake, answer our petition as we come boldly before Your throne of grace in our time of need.

As in Nehemiah’s day, rebuild our walls, restore our homes, revive our hearts, renew liberty and justice for all.

We pray with one voice, by one blood as one nation under God in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.”

Father, help us to “Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over …  the earth” (Genesis 1:28). Help us that, “whatsoever we do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men” (Colossians 3:23).

A6S3 No Religious Test

“… but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.”  ~ A6S3

Backus said “Nothing is more evident, both in reason and the Holy Scriptures, than that religion is ever a matter between God and individuals; and, therefore, no man or men can impose any religious test without invading the essential prerogatives of our Lord Jesus Christ. Ministers first assumed this power under the Christian name; and then Constantine approved of the practice, when he adopted the profession of Christianity, as an engine of state policy. And let the history of all nations be searched from that day to this, and it will appear that the imposing of religious tests hath been the greatest engine of tyranny in the world.”(1)

Iredell asked, “How is it possible to exclude any set of men, without taking away that principle of religious freedom which we ourselves so warmly contend for? This is the foundation on which persecution has been raised in every part of the world… But it is never to be supposed that the people of America will trust their dearest rights to persons who have no religion at all, or a religion materially different from their own. It would be happy for mankind if religion was permitted to take its own course and maintain itself by the excellence of its own doctrines. The divine Author of our religion never wishes for its support by worldly authority…”(2)

Johnston explained,  “It appears to me that it would have been dangerous if Congress could intermeddle with the subject of religion. True religion is derived from a much higher source than human laws. When any attempt is made by any government to restrain men’s conscience, no good consequence can possibly follow.(3)

May the Church rise up to teach His Word to make disciples who can powerfully apply His principles to self and civil government, in Jesus’ Name!
