This week we get to listen to Greg Treat.  He is a strategic business consultant with a focus on covenantal business structure and generational succession.  John & I got to meet him at the CEI Summit (Christian Education Initiative). He is sharing a message that I believe is very dear to the Lord to enable and equip us to come into all that He wants to give us!

What does A1 S6 C1 Part 2 of the Constitution Say?

They shall in all Cases, except Treason, Felony and Breach of the Peace, be privileged from Arrest during their Attendance at the Session of their respective Houses, and in going to and returning from the same; and for any Speech or Debate in either House, they shall not be questioned in any other Place.  ~ A1 S6 C1 Part 2

Bible says in several places, and specifically in 1 Timothy 5:19:

“Do not listen to an accusation against an elder unless it is confirmed by two or three witnesses.” (See also: Deuteronomy 17:6, Deuteronomy 19:15, Matthew 18:16)

And yet the Framers had witnessed King George III of England falsely accuse or have people falsely accuse those who would not agree with him and his plans. It was not uncommon for members of parliament to be arrested and thrown into jail on petty charges.

The Americans suffered severely for false accusations enough to list among the grievances in the Declaration of Independence, these of their own:

~ He has dissolved Representative Houses repeatedly, for opposing with manly firmness his invasions on the rights of the people…

~ For depriving us in many cases, of the benefits of Trial by Jury…

We see how the framers then took these grievances that they experienced from King George III, understanding that their rights come from God Almighty, they protected those responsibilities by law through our Constitution. Now we realize that only tyrants want to replace our Constitution. Only leaders who want to control us would offer another method to be our written standard of governance.

How do we get back to the Biblical Constitutional Liberty the Framers gave their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor to bequeath us?

As Thomas Jefferson said: I know of no safe depositor of the ultimate powers of society but the people themselves: and if we think them not enlightened enough to exercise their control with a wholesome discretion, the remedy is not to take it from them, but to inform their discretion by education. This is the true corrective of abuses of constitutional power.”
