God Alone

“It Was God Alone Who Prevented the Unthinkable” ~ President Trump

Would God speak to us through our president? (Dinesh D’Souza, Mike Lindell, True the Vote)

After the assassination attempt, I believe He spoke three things to us:

  1. God Alone
  2. Fight
  3. Unity

I’ll address these in three separate articles. In the Church we know that God ALONE is our Hope and Savior. And we know:  “Blessed is the Nation whose God is the Lord.”

Jesus told us to “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations.” Isn’t each Christian responsible to make sure that his nation will be judged as a sheep nation after hearing the gospel? We are to:

  1. Live His Word ourselves and disciple our children and families (Mark 16)
  2. Pray and disciple our communities and nation (Matthew 18)
  3. Disciple the nations (Matthew 28:18-20)

How can we do this without getting involved in politics? From the 1828 dictionary, this means:

POL’ITICSnoun The science of government; that part of ethics which consists in the regulation and government of a nation or state, for the preservation of its safety, peace and prosperity; comprehending the defense of its existence and rights against foreign control or conquest, the augmentation of its strength and resources, and the protection of its citizens in their rights, with the preservation and improvement of their morals. Politics as a science or an art, is a subject of vast extent and importance.

Thomas Paine reminded the patriots of this in Common Sense using 1 Samuel 8 where Samuel warned the nation what a king would do to them. The list he shares parallels the grievances in the Declaration of Independence and they parallel our struggle today.

He warns them again using Judges 8:22-23 KNJV, “Then the men of Israel said to Gideon, ‘Rule over us, both you and your son, and your grandson also; for you have delivered us from the hand of Midian.’ But Gideon said to them, ‘I will not rule over you, nor shall my son rule over you; the Lord shall rule over you.’”

Samuel Adams captured this reasoning in The Rights of the Colonists as Christians: “These may be best understood by reading and carefully studying the institutes of the great Law Giver and Head of the Christian Church, which are to be found clearly written and promulgated in the New Testament…”

Historian William V. Wells explains, “Through the entire struggle, the people sought out, held fast to, and rallied around greatness and virtue, and made these qualities subserve the public good. No outpourings of obloquy, no thickening peril, shook this noble trust. No gusts of feeling from temporary reverses moved them to seek new guides; but as dangers multiplied, confidence strengthened. And so it was that out of rare public virtue grew our great republican government…

“The great question was now discussed at every fireside, and the favorite toast at every dinner-table was, ‘May the independent principles of “Common Sense” be confirmed throughout the United Colonies.’ … It was said to a people trained under Christian influences, who habitually looked upward in every form of supplication, that the spirit which actuated the United Colonies ‘was as much from God as the descent of the Holy Ghost on the day of Pentecost, and was introductory to something great and good to mankind.’”

May God-fearing Americans today have the same courage to honor His Name in all our God-given responsibilities today. May we also trust in God alone.

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.” Galatians 5:1 NIV
