Washington is at Prayer + A1 S6 C2 Part 2
This article from The Family Circle in 1847 gives us inspiration and encouragement for the time that we are in presently! This is based on the bronze base relief of:
General George Washington in Prayer at Valley Forge by James Edward Kelly
In this hour of darkness and of danger, when ‘foes were strong and friends were few,’ when every human prospect presented to the commander at Valley Forge was disheartening, he retires to a sequestered spot, and there laid the cause of his bleeding country at the throne of grace. That country had appealed in vain to the justice of her acknowledged sovereign; he pleads her cause before the King of kings. He had before complained to Congress that there was a deficiency in the chaplaincy of the army. But it was not the form he relied on. It was not a religious awe, as a matter of mere policy, with which he sought to imbue the minds of soldiery religiously educated. He sought to link our cause, by a sincere devotion, to the immutable throne of justice; to find wisdom to guide his own action; to place the country in the right, so that he might bring upon her prosperity, as the natural result of justice to the injured.
How full of interest is this scene! How instructive! How sublime! Let our children come up from their cradles through the remotest generations to contemplate this picture. Let parents open it to their admiring families. Let it be hung on the parlor walls, ornament the center tables, be pictured on the tapestry, be grouped with every cradle scene, recited in every nursery, that it may meet the early vision, and affect the young heart of every child who may breathe the free air of this land of freedom—‘Washington is at prayer.’ Well did he earn the title of ‘patriarch’—‘the father of his country.’ As we honor him, and teach our children to give him honor, may we also love and honor, and teach our children to acknowledge the God of our fathers, who alone giveth the victory.

“ … no Person holding any Office under the United States, shall be a Member of either House during his Continuance in Office.” ~ A1 S6 C2 Part 2
The Framers would not be surprised to see how much the separated and balanced branches of government have colluded into the present day Deep state that we have presently.
They had witnessed that the king gave office positions in his court to members of parliament as a bribe for them to vote according to his schemes. As Deuteronomy 16:19 warns, “You shall not pervert justice; you shall not show partiality, nor take a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and twists the words of the righteous.”
Mark Levin explains well how much we have deviated from the simplicity of the Constitution as we have allowed our representatives to be bribed.
He shares from the Liberty Amendments:
“What was to be a relatively innocuous federal government, operating from a defined enumeration of specific grants of power, has become an ever-present and unaccountable force. It is the nation’s largest creditor, debtor, lender, employer, consumer, contractor, grantor, property owner, tenant, insurer, health-care provider, and pension guarantor. Moreover, with aggrandized police powers, what it does not control directly it bans or mandates by regulation. For example, the federal government regulates most things in your bathroom, laundry room, and kitchen, as well as the mortgage you hold on your house. It designs your automobile and dictates the kind of fuel it uses. It regulates your baby’s toys, crib, and stroller; plans your children’s school curriculum and lunch menu; and administers their student loans in college. At your place of employment, the federal government oversees everything from the racial, gender, and age diversity of the workforce to the hours, wages, and benefits paid. Indeed, the question is not what the federal government regulates, but what it does not. And it makes you wonder—how can a people incapable of selecting their own lightbulbs and toilets possess enough competence to vote for their own rulers and fill out complicated tax returns?”
Father, help us vote for those who will not take a bribe, in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
