Do Justice

Do Justice

Let’s consider the simplicity of the gospel, even in our Civic responsibilities. Doesn’t Micah 6:8 epitomize this:

“He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?”

Let’s look at what “Do Justice” means in the Hebrew from the KJV Keyword Bible!

The root of “Do” means “to work, labor, toil, to make, create… It has the connotation of ethical obligation (obedience)… the emphasis was on fashioning the created objects…” and “…is used in scripture to describe God’s creative activity.”

The Hebrew word for Justice “refers to all functions of government.” “All authority belongs to Jehovah God… Justice is primarily an attribute of God… It is rooted in His character and ought to be emulated by godly people.”

God loves Justice! God IS Justice. And yet He is instructing us in Micah 6:8, “He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice…”

Could it be that the reason that we feel like we are going to hell in a hand basket is not the fault of the unbelievers in our nation? As believers don’t we have the responsibility to Do Justice?

We are God’s delegated authority on Earth to “work, labor, toil, to make, create” Justice just as we know that God Almighty would and emulate His love for us displayed for all in His gift to us through Jesus Christ, redeeming the time, for it is evil.

Father, anoint us, Your people who are called by Your Name to build Your kingdom, Your Way, for Your glory. Help us to bless our families, communities, states and nation with Your righteous standards once again that Your people may rejoice once again. For Your glory and honor! In Jesus’ Name, Amen
