Renewing the Mind Flexible Online Course
August 11 – October 17 EST
If you enjoyed Renewing the Mind Live, I think you’ll love this course. It uses the same text, but you will have access to the PDF version and access to on-demand videos from other Certified Master Teachers such as Dr. Max Lyons, Dr. Mike Myers, Laura Caruso, Martha Shirley, and Dan Smithwick. There will be three optional zoom meetings: August 21, September 11, and a final session on October 16.
This Renewing the Mind course is online and may be completed on a flexible schedule from August 11 – October 17, 2025 with no specific log-in times.
Renewing the Mind for Teaching and Learning is a study in the Principle Approach, an Historic method of thinking that views all life and learning through a Biblical lens, as our Founding Fathers did.
A Biblical philosophy of education begets a fresh approach to both curriculum and method. Start by “renewing your mind for teaching and learning” with a group of like-minded patriots and educators. This study is the first step in the process of restoring true Biblical education, the source of liberty and Christian self-government.
This version has more writing assignments in canvas that pulls out what you were able to learn and meditate on in the Renewing the Mind LIVE course. Hopefully you were able to complete the chart, but if not there is a second opportunity in this course. I find that most of us that are new to the Principle Approach® and Biblical Worldview methodology need it! If you have not taken the LIVE Renewing the Mind, you can still join this one. Sign up here.
I will not be teaching in this version but will be proctoring the course. I will be checking in each week to see how you are progressing and will offer feedback continually. You may reach out to me at any time during this course. I hope that if you feel that you have not quite mastered the “4R’s” and the Word Study methods that you will join us on another adventure to do so.
For His Glory and Honor!

A1 S8 C18 “Necessary and proper” Clause
“The Congress shall have Power to… make all Laws which shall be necessary and proper for carrying into Execution the foregoing Powers, and all other Powers vested by this Constitution in the Government of the United States, or in any Department or Officer thereof.” ~ A1 S8 C18
It should be glaringly obvious by the language above that Congress has power ONLY to make laws to enact the previous clauses in Article I, Section Eight of the Constitution.
Wilson Nicholas said “The Constitution had enumerated all powers which the government should have, but did not say how they were to be exercised. It therefore, in this clause, tells how they shall be exercised. Does this give any new power? I say not. This clause only enables them to carry into execution the powers given to them, but gives them no additional power.”(1)
James Madison said “[This clause] only extended to the enumerated powers. Should Congress attempt to extend it to any power not enumerated, it would not be warranted by the clause.”(2)
James Madison explained in Federalist 23, “If it be asked what is to be the consequence, in case the Congress shall misconstrue this part of the Constitution and exercise powers not warranted by its true means, I answer the same as if they should misconstrue or enlarge any other power invested in them; as if the general power had been reduced to particulars, and any one of them were to be violated… In the last resort a remedy must be obtained from the people, who can, by the election of more faithful representatives, annul the acts of the usurpers.” (3)
O Father! I pray that Your people who are called by Your Name would repent from our apathy and complacency and once again steward our Liberty Faithfully for Your glory. So help us, Almighty God, in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
- Elliot, 3:245-46.
- Ibid, 3:455.
- Federalist 23
