“This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, the God of Israel, says to all the captives He has exiled to Babylon from Jerusalem: ‘Build homes, and plan to stay. Plant gardens, and eat the food they produce. Marry and have children. Then find spouses for them so that you may have many grandchildren. Multiply! Do not dwindle away! And work for the peace and prosperity of the city where I sent you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, for its welfare will determine your welfare.’” ~Jer. 29:4-7 NLT
Father, we pray for the welfare of our city. We pray for our pastors to shepherd their flocks according to Your word and Your heart for their marriages, that they would reflect the glory of Christ and His Church, once again.
We pray for Fathers, that they would not provoke their children to anger by the way they treat them. Rather, would bring them up with the discipline and instruction that comes from the Lord. ~Ephesians 6:4
That they would promote the kind of living that reflects wholesome teaching, that pastors would teach the older men to exercise self-control, to be worthy of respect, and to live wisely. That they would have sound faith and be filled with love and patience. ~Titus 2: 1-2.
That the older women would live in a way that honors God. That they would not slander others or be heavy drinkers. Instead, they would teach others what is good. That these older women would train the younger women to love their husbands and their children, to live wisely and be pure, to work in their homes, to do good, and to be submissive to their husbands, that we would not bring shame on the word of God.” ~Titus 2:3-5
In the same way, may the young men be encouraged to live wisely. And have an example shown to them by the older men of doing good works of every kind. Let everything the older generation does reflect the integrity and seriousness of Your teaching. May the younger generation be taught the truth so that Your teaching can’t be criticized. Then those who oppose us will be ashamed and have nothing bad to say about us. ~Titus 2:6-8
May our children be trained how to obey their parents because they belong to the Lord, for this is the right thing to do. May “Honor your father and mother” be a joy to our children as this is the first commandment with a promise: If you honor your father and mother, things will go well for for our children, and they will have a long life on the earth. ~Ephesians 6:1-3
Father, may we be bold and courageous for You once again in America. May we teach the whole counsel of God in every area of our lives. Cause us, grace us to teach our children the Biblical worldview of every area of life- simply learning to see by the light of God’s Word in order to reason from biblical principles morally, politically, economically, socially, and governmentally about all of life.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me. I will be found by you,” says the Lord. “I will end your captivity and restore your fortunes. I will gather you out of the nations where I sent you and will bring you home again to your own land.” ~Jeremiah 29:11-14
I know this scripture was a promise to Your chosen people as they were going into captivity. I know that America has so much blood on our hands while our leaders sit idly by as if they are bewitched or have become deists. But God Almighty, for Your great namesake, would You have mercy on us, shake us out of our fear of man, to stand, to honor YOU, even to vote for righteousness this Tuesday for Your glory. May Your people vote for those, not who make seductive promises, but those who are: Able, Fear God, Love Truth and who Will Not Take a Bribe, according to Exodus 18:21.
In Jesus’ Name we pray, Amen.

A5S1, Part 4: State Representation in the Senate
… and that no State, without its Consent, shall be deprived of its equal Suffrage in the Senate. ~A5S1 Part 4
The last section addresses the right that “no State, without its Consent, shall be deprived of its equal Suffrage in the Senate.” Anyone proposing to abolish the senate is proposing to dismantle the Constitution and is treasonous.
During the Constitutional Convention, the smaller states did not want representation only by population, since the larger states would then clearly have an advantage. It wasn’t until Benjamin Franklin’s epic call to prayer that a proposal came to represent the states equally in the senate. This was modeled after the Connecticut Constitution which used a pattern of representation based on Deuteronomy 1:13. The Reverend Thomas Hooker taught this scripture to his congregation in 1638 teaching them to deduce principles to apply them to their civic duties. The Fundamental orders of Connecticut starts out, in its preamble:
“For as much as it hath pleased Almighty God by the wise disposition of his divine providence so to order and dispose of things that we the Inhabitants and Residents of Windsor, Hartford and Wethersfield are now cohabiting and dwelling in and upon the River of Connecticut and the lands thereunto adjoining; and well knowing where a people are gathered together the word of God requires that to maintain the peace and union of such a people there should be an orderly and decent Government established according to God, to order and dispose of the affairs of the people at all seasons as occasion shall require; do therefore associate and conjoin ourselves to be as one Public State or Commonwealth; and do for ourselves and our successors and such as shall be adjoined to us at any time hereafter, enter into Combination and Confederation together, to maintain and preserve the liberty and purity of the Gospel of our Lord Jesus which we now profess, as also, the discipline of the Churches, which according to the truth of the said Gospel is now practiced amongst us…”(1)
May it ever be so, Amen!
