We HOLD These Truths- Recognizing Covenant
At the First Landing in America at Cape Henry, Virginia in 1607, Reverend Robert Hunt declared, “We do hereby dedicate this Land, and ourselves, to reach the People within these shores with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and to raise up Godly generations after us, and with these generations take the Kingdom of God to all the earth. May this Covenant of Dedication remain to all generations…”
Pastor John Robinson had trained his congregation in the principles of self and civil government so well that his men could create a document to honor God in The Mayflower Compact. Here are some excerpts:
“IN THE NAME OF GOD, AMEN. We, whose names are underwritten… having undertaken for the Glory of God, and Advancement of the Christian Faith… to plant the first Colony in the northern Parts of Virginia; Do by these Presents, solemnly and mutually, in the Presence of God and one another, covenant and combine ourselves together into a civil Body Politick…”
In 1638, Reverend Thomas Hooker taught from Deuteronomy 1:13, “Obtain for yourselves men who are wise, discerning, and informed from your tribes, and I will appoint them as your heads.” His men then wrote America’s first state Constitution which begins, “For as much as it hath pleased Almighty God by the wise disposition of His divine providence so to order and dispose of things… the word of God requires that to maintain the peace and union of such a people there should be an orderly and decent Government established according to God, to order and dispose of the affairs of the people … to maintain and preserve the liberty and purity of the Gospel of our Lord Jesus…”
Benjamin Franklin’s appeal for prayer at the Constitutional Convention is very convicting to us today, “I have lived, Sir, a long time, and the longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth – that God governs in the affairs of men.”
Let’s commit our way to Him for the next 250 years to be a sheep nation that knows God, that reads His word, seeks His face and obeys Him in all that we do, in Jesus’ name, Amen!

I’d like to share a discussion I got to have with my friends at WCNO concerning our Liberty and History, Rev. David Francoeur And Ed Skiba: You may listen here!

What can we do now?
These few months before the primaries are most important to our Liberty and to the future of our children. These elections determine whether we have people in office who truly honor God or have those who simply say that they do. May we be good men, who give an inheritance to our children’s children (Proverbs 13:22). This is impossible without securing their future with truly Godly leaders. To do so, vote for men who align with Exodus 18:21:
- Able
- Fear God
- Love Truth
- Hate covetous
Make sure that:
- You are registered to vote. Most states’ voting registration ends 30 days before their primaries, for SLC the Voting Registration deadline is: July 20, 2026
- VOTE! The Primary Election is August 18, with early voting 8/8/to 8/15.
- Register your friends, those who fear God, and teach them to vote:
- Pro-life
- Pro-Biblical Worldview
- Pro-small government (God is Jehovah Jireh – not the government!)
- Pro-family
Father, help us to honor You and obey Your Word for our Civic Duties. We trust You with the miracles that we need to pass Liberty to our children’s children. Thank You for Your faithfulness, kindness and patience toward us. May we glorify and honor You and be a sheep nation once again, in Jesus’ Mighty Name, Amen!

Constitutional Conversation: A4S3C1 Creation and Admission of New States
New States may be admitted by the Congress into this Union; but no new State shall be formed or erected within the Jurisdiction of any other State; nor any State be formed by the Junction of two or more States, or Parts of States, without the Consent of the Legislatures of the States concerned as well as of the Congress. ~ A4S3C1
The states that ratified the Constitution realized that there would soon be states from sea to shining sea. In the same year that the Constitution was ratified, Congress passed the NW Ordinance which outlined how the territories would be welcomed on equal footing with the original states.
The Northwest Ordinance outlined the requirements which had to be fulfilled. These included 60,000 free inhabitants, a republican form of government, and no slavery.
Gouverneur Morris moved to “strike out the word ‘limits’… and insert the word ‘jurisdiction’. This also was meant to guard the case of Vermont, the jurisdiction of New York not extending over Vermont, which was in the exercise of sovereignty, though Vermont was within the asserted limits of New York.”(1)
There had been a battle between these two states from the moment the Duke of York accepted New York from the king of England. He immediately declared that New York went to the Connecticut river. The Connecticut river is the eastern border of Vermont. The Duke tried to evict all of the farmers on Vermont who had been there for generations and decades, and had gotten their land grants from New Hampshire.
As the Duke of York began to force them to move out, the Vermont farmers formed the “Committees of Safety” and became the Green Mountain Boys led by Colonel Ethan Allen and Seth Warner.
Lord stir in us the same pioneering spirit of liberty and freedom, knowing that You created us equal according to Galatians 3:28, we are one in Christ and endowed by our Creator with unalienable rights. Forgive us for letting those in government try to take them away. In Jesus’ Name we pray, Amen.
