Women Warriors

Margaret Corbin served by her husband’s side in the American Revolution “cooking, washing and caring for the wounded soldiers.” When he was mortally wounded manning the cannons, she took his place until she was wounded seriously herself. Molly Pitcher served water to the men on the frontlines. Deborah Sampson Gannett also served in the American Revolution, even disguising herself as a man to defend our Liberty. These women were honored with a pension from our American government. (Founders Bible, p. 374, 403)
The Biblical Deborah humbly called herself, “a mother in Israel” (Judges 5:5) yet she reached out to Barak to encourage him to obey God: “Hasn’t the Lord, the God of Israel, commanded you: ‘Go, deploy the troops on Mount Tabor, and take with you 10,000 men… Then I will lure Sisera… to fight against you, and I will hand him over to you.’”
”Barak said to her, “If you will go with me, I will go. But if you will not go with me, I will not go.”
“I will go with you,” she said, “but you will receive no honor on the road you are about to take, because the Lord will sell Sisera into a woman’s hand.” (Ju 4:6-9)
You can’t miss that she is a bit disappointed in his reluctance to lead to protect women when she tells him that a woman will get the credit for this victory. The incredible thing here is that she is not claiming that credit.
Judges 4:21 NLT says, “But when Sisera fell asleep from exhaustion, Jael quietly crept up to him with a hammer and tent peg in her hand. Then she drove the tent peg through his temple and into the ground, and so he died.”
Deborah calls her, “Most blessed among women is Jael… May she be blessed above all women who live in tents.” (Judges 5:24)
Erika of America rises not as a feminist “taking over” but as another “mother in Israel”, in America, reluctantly but powerfully stepping into the fray to prophecy and encourage the troops, refusing to let this battle fall to the enemy of our souls. When this battle ends in Victory, may we as Deborah did, praise our glorious God together as she did in Judges 5:31, “Lord, may … those who love You rise like the sun in all its power!”

This is a Save the Date for our next course. I will share one of the best resources to develop our Biblical Worldview, not only for Education, but for: Civil Government (Politics), Education, Economics, Religion and Social Issues. We’ll take the PEERS test for FREE (thank you, Dan Smithwick!), then go through the course together and then take the PEERS test again. This is a great course for Christians in the marketplace to effectively articulate Biblical solutions to the issues of our day. I can hardly wait! You can register and buy your book here.

A1 S10 C2-3 Imposts and Duties
No State shall, without the Consent of the Congress, lay any Imposts or Duties on Imports or Exports, except what may be absolutely necessary for executing it’s inspection Laws: and the net Produce of all Duties and Imposts, laid by any State on Imports or Exports, shall be for the Use of the Treasury of the United States; and all such Laws shall be subject to the Revision and Control of the Congress. No State shall, without the Consent of Congress, lay any Duty of Tonnage ~ A1 S10 C2-3
James Madison said, “the exporting states wished to retain the power of laying duties on exports, to enable them to pay the expenses incurred.”(1)
Gouverneur Morris “thought the regulation necessary, to prevent the Atlantic states from endeavoring to tax the western states.”(2)
“George Mason urged that the restrictions on the states would prevent the incidental duties necessary for the inspection and safe keeping of their produce, and be ruinous to the staple states, as he called the five southern states, he moved as follows- ‘provided nothing herein contained shall be construed to restrain any state from laying duties upon exports for the sole purpose of defraying the charges of inspecting, packing, storing and indemnifying the losses in keeping the commodities in the care of public officers, before exportation.’”(3)
This last section was an effort to not tax ships based on their size, but also to make provision for the cost of keeping up harbors including: dredging, building, breakwaters, and putting in needed pilings for their docks and piers.
Section 10 of the Constitution clearly shows the Framers understood there were certain areas of responsibility that had to be taken care of on a national level. But for the majority of our government, it was expected for the states to govern themselves. This is a concept of liberty that we’ve lost to a great extent.
May God help us to be virtuous and self-governing again, in Jesus’ mighty name, amen.
