Teaching His Story

The Right Path

Last week we began to journey through the 1828 Noah Webster dictionary’s definition of Education. We camped a bit in the section:

The bringing up, as of a child, instruction…

Let’s look again at Proverbs 22:6, from the NLT:

Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it.” But what if the concept of “the right path” has been buried in layers of cobwebs? Our children frequently do not start “adulting” until after college at about age 22. In Colonial times, young adults used to blaze a trail starting at ages 10-14 doing courageous, bold adventures that few of us attempt now. In the Hebrew culture, children are welcomed into adulthood at their bar mitzvahs at age 12-13. It seems to do them well. How have we lost this heritage?

America allowed her Bibles to partially and increasingly close during three main events:

1838- Horace Mann, the Father of Progressive education began to usurp authority from parents and the Church through governmental funding and standardization.

1913- Charles and Mary Beard began to re-write our history depicting the founders as racist socialists. Many programs were started that hindered or replaced bold entrepreneurship and enterprise.

1954- Lyndon B Johnson sought retaliation on the Christians who exposed his campaign, through the “Johnson Amendment” and the 501(C)(3). This shift in law and policy put the Church under government approval and control supplanting the bold obedience we need to disciple our nation. (Acts 5:28-29)

But we have begun to reopen our Bibles and pray, obeying 2 Chronicles 7:14-16 NIV

“… if my people, who are called by My Name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place. I have chosen and consecrated this temple so that My Name may be there forever. My eyes and My heart will always be there.”

What a promise!  Yes, Lord! Do Your work in us “both to will and to work” for Your good pleasure! (Phil 2:13 NKJV)

So this offers the older generation a challenge and a promise from Proverbs 13:22, “A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children…”

What heritage can we give, when most of us are in debt and on Social Security? What future are we leaving them when our nation is $37 trillion in debt, half of our legislators won’t even stand to clearly represent us or America, and most of our churches are silent concerning biblical principles of marriage, child training, discipleship, finances, and civic responsibilities?

Our Hope lay in opening that Bible ourselves, getting to know God’s heart ourselves, meditating on His Word ourselves, so that God can give us great success in all the above, especially in the education of our children. Take courage, my dear friends. You are blessed, you are called, you are anointed- to reach the younger generation. You may not feel like it, but let’s start with ourselves and as Isaiah 60 says, “Arise, shine; For your light has come! And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you.

Surely Isaiah 54:13 encourages us: “All your children shall be taught by the Lord, and great shall be the peace of your children.”

I hear from y’all from time to time, so I will encourage you, that there are many of the older generation among you, who want to help the younger generation. I believe that you are pivotal to the coming revival and reformation. I would encourage you to prepare yourself! I am reaching out to you one by one, a few every day. But if you want to reach out to me, please let me know what you’re doing. What is your vision? What do you need, to go forward and come into all that God has for you?

Let’s keep seeking Him and believing that He is well able to bring us into the land that He has for each one of us. I praise God for all the big ministries that are doing wonderful things. But in each of our communities, we can reach a few that’ll reach dozens, that’ll reach hundreds, even thousands!

Jeremiah 29:7,11, “And seek the peace of the city where I have caused you to be carried away captive, and pray to the Lord for it; for in its peace you will have peace… For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

Jeremiah 6:16 says, “Thus says the Lord:

“Stand in the ways and see,
And ask for the old paths, where the good way is,
And walk in it;
Then you will find rest for your souls…”

What terrifies me about this amazing promise is that the people of Israel, respond to the King of kings, the Lord of lords, the Great I AM, the Prince of Peace and the Author and Completer of our Faith- with no faith at all.

“…But they said, ‘We will not walk in it.’”

O Father! have mercy on us! I pray for Your people who are called by Your Great name, for You to grace us through these perilous times. Help us to walk by Faith! Help us to choose “old paths, where the good way is, and walk in it…” Let us “find rest for” our souls… You are Well Able to bring us into all that You have for us. We say, YES and AMEN. So help us Almighty God!

Meanwhile, I would serve you in two ways. Please join me if the Lord puts it on your heart. Next week we’re starting the Gospel Purpose for Math. This was really an eye-opener for me. In college I took six physics and  calculus classes among other higher level math and science courses. It was hard for me to see how those subjects were actually founded in the word of God. It has been such an adventure to see the Lord higher, deeper and wider and fall in love with Him more as I learn how to start every subject in the word of God. I invite you to master these concepts with me so we can restore them to the next generation. Let’s give them a greater inheritance that we have received in education. I love the quote from John Adams to his wife, Abigail from when he served in Paris, France:

The Science of Government it is my Duty to study, more than all other Sciences: the Art of Legislation and Administration and Negotiation, ought to take Place, indeed to exclude in a manner all other Arts. I must study Politicks and War that my sons may have liberty to study Mathematicks and Philosophy. My sons ought to study Mathematicks and Philosophy, Geography, natural History, Naval Architecture, navigation, Commerce and Agriculture, in order to give their Children a right to study Painting, Poetry, Musick, Architecture, Statuary, Tapestry and Porcelaine.

We, like them, are in a season of war. But let’s give our children the inheritance of the Gospel Purpose for the subjects! Please join us for the Gospel Purpose for Math.

The Judicial Branch 3

The Framers had no concept of “three equal branches of government”. Alexander Hamilton had the least concern for the Judicial branch exercising out-of-control authority over the other branches as he stated..

“The judiciary, from the nature of its functions, will always be the least dangerous to the political rights of the Constitution; because it will be least in a capacity to annoy or injured them. The executive not only dispenses the honors but holds the sword of the community. The legislature not only commands the purse, but prescribes the rules by which the duties and rights of every citizen are to be regulated. The judiciary, on the contrary, has no influence over either the sword or the purse; no direction, either of the strength or of the wealth of the society, and can take no active resolution whatever. It may truly be said to have neither FORCE nor WILL, but merely judgment…” (1)

Thomas Jefferson was very concerned about the Marbury decision:

“The Constitution intended that the three great branches of the government should be coordinate, and independent of each other. As to acts, therefore, which are to be done by either, it has given no control to another branch… It did not intend to give the judiciary… control over the executive… I have long wished for a proper occasion to have the gratuitous opinion in Marbury v Madison brought before the public, and denounced as not law.”

How can we now rein the three branches of government back to their original intent? Well Congress has passed a Constitutional Amendment to limit the terms of the Executive to two terms, but even though about 85% of Americans want Term Limits for Congress (2) (3) (4), Congress has refused to limit its own power.

Mark Levin published The Liberty Amendments in 2013, outlining amendments to rein in out-of-control power grabs to restore the original intent of the Constitution. In this same year, Dr. Michael Farris working with Mark Meckler rolled out a grassroots plan to use Article V of the Constitution to amend the Constitution. We’ll cover this in Article V.

So help us, Almighty God!
